Ronan Thomas en quelques mots
Né le 10 février 1978 en Mayenne, Ronan Thomas baigne dans l’univers des chevaux depuis l’enfance. Ronan commence par des courses de poneys puis intègre l’école du Moulin à Vent à Gouvieux où il a pour maître d’apprentissage David Smaga. Pour ce dernier, il remporte sa première course à 17 ans avec Next Winner à Rouen. Il reste chez son formateur pendant presque six ans, se faisant un nom dans le milieu, avant de connaitre un passage à vide vers 21 ans.
Mathieu Boutin lui permet de se relancer. Il passe ensuite quelques années chez Myriam Bollack-Badel et en profite pour passer professionnel à presque 23 ans. Puis, il entre chez la renommée Christiane Head-Maarek qui lui permet de remporter ses premières grandes épreuves. Après quatre ans de collaboration, il décide de devenir free-lance en 2005. En 2007, il s’offre le Prix Dollar (G.II) avec Musical Way entraînée par Philippe Van de Poële. En avril 2012, il remporte sa 500ième course à Longchamp, en selle sur New Outlook entraîné par Jonathan Pease. Ronan Thomas a également été Président de l’Association des Jockeys entre avril 2009 et le printemps 2012.
